Finally the dust seems to be settling down on India's first Men's Fashion Week. FDCI is now out with the list of the 28 designers who are all set to mesmerize the menswear market and the fashion industry with the first ever season of Van Heusen Indian Mens Week to be held from Sep 11 to Sep 13. It is a mix of both established and budding names of the industry. Those exhibiting on the runway are Abraham and Thakore, ANKY m, Ashish N Soni, Aslam Khan, Ezma, Fighter cock by Abhishek Gupta and Nandita Basu, Gaurav Gupta, Gunjan and Rahul, Himmat Singh, JJ Valaya, Kotwara by Meera and Muzaffar Ali, Manoviraj Khosla, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Nitin Bal Chauhan, Priya darshini Rao, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rajvi Mohan, Ravi Bajaj, Rina Dhaka, Rocky S, Rohit Bal, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Samant Chauhan, Shantanu and Nikhil, Siddartha Tytler, Tarun Tahiliani and Vijay Arora.
FDCI supremo- Suniel Sethi said, "Designers are the core of the fashion industry and play an important role in shaping fashion trends in India. We have received an overwhelming response from the designers who want to participate. I wish all the participating designers the very best." This initiative of FDCI will cater to the widest range of men's fashion – menswear and accessories, under one roof, offering buyers and consumers the widest possible selection of fashion for men. The biggest fashion trade event for men will also present 15 shows over a three-day of actions and adventure. Participating designer, Rina Dhaka shared, "this is something I am going to try for the first time. Currently, I am quite sceptical about my whole collection. I do not want to boast about it as I will be able to judge myself only once I am out with it. just hoping for the best."
While Rina is nervous about her first ever menswear line, Nitin Bal Chauhan is very positive about this grand event. "This should have been done earlier, but this seems to be a consolidated and organized event with focus on the domestic market. We are hoping to find a mix of buyers from casual and formal wear brand. I am going to start with a casual wear line which can be best described as a funky collection," he concluded.
Lakme Fashion Week, in collaboration with Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (iNIFD), present the Lakmé Fashion Week Fashion Media Workshop- a pioneering step towards understanding the growing need for information and the importance of reporting on fashion.
