NCAA Basketball Championship
The NCAA Championship trophy was first raised up high in 1952. This walnut plank that is embellished with a metal NCAA seal and olive branches replaced a silver cup that had previously gone to the winners. The walnut plank only valued at $500 or so.
This understated trophy isn't the only thing champions get for winning. The morning after the last game, the National Association of Basketball Coaches presents the winners with a much larger and more elaborate marble trophy topped with a Waterford crystal basketball.
The Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy
The NBA's championship trophy made its debut in 1978. It was originally called the Walter A. Brown Trophy, after former Celtics owner whose name had been on the league's previous championship trophy. In 1984, the league renamed the trophy to honor outgoing NBA commissioner Larry O'Brien. The trophy is around two feet high and depicts a basketball going into a net. The Stanley Cup
The NHL's Stanley Cup is named after Frederick Arthur Stanley, the 16th Earl of Derby who was the Governor General of Canada from 1888 to 1893. In 1892 he decided that Canada's hockey teams needed to vie for a trophy. So he gave 10 guineas to purchase a silver bowl made in Sheffield, England. The trophy was originally called the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, but Stanley's name quickly attached itself to the bowl. What might be surprising to fans is that the cup wasn't very big. The bowl Stanley purchased was only seven inches tall and 11 inches in diameter. The trophy went to the top hockey team in Canada, but in 1910 it began bouncing around from one professional hockey league to another. In 1926 the young NHL had adopted the trophy on an informal basis by 1947 it became the official spoils of a championship.
The 35-pound Stanley Cup we all know isn't the original Stanley Cup. The original bowl that Stanley purchased has been retired and is on permanent display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The familiar Stanley Cup didn't come about until 1947, when an engraver redesigned the trophy to make it less unwieldy. Since then, it's become one of sports' most coveted treasures, because its rings bear the inscription of the rosters and staff of winning teams. Of course, every so often the room for engraving on the trophy fills up, so the league pops off the oldest ring, flattens it out, and sends it to the Hall of Fame for display while adding a new blank ring to the trophy's base.

Chances are your dog will enjoy AmericaÂ’s most famous park in midtown Manhattan as much as you will. Dogs are not allowed everywhere in Central Park (Elm Islands at the Mall, Sheep Meadow, East Green, or Strawberry Fields are among the main prohibited areas) but can go off-leash before 9 a.m. where allowed.
Keep an eye out for horses and city streets that cross the park from 59th to 110th
streets and from Fifth Avenue to Central Park West. Bring a water bowl on hot days -
the only current fountain outfitted for dogs is at the entrance on East 90th Street.
Architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux designed the park to remain in
a naturalistic setting so even in New York City you can lose yourself on woodland
paths.
An hour north of New York City you can find some of the best parks anywhere to
hike with your dog. As development slowly creeped into the Hudson Highlands
efforts were made to preserve the area but it was not until the State of New
York tried to relocate Sing Sing Prison to Bear Mountain - so named for its
resemblance to a bear in repose - that conservation forces truly mobilized.
Railroad magnate E.W. Harriman and others donated land and vast sums of money
to save the Highlands and in 1910 Bear Mountain-Harriman State Park was
dedicated. Within five years it was hosting more than one million visitors per year.
There are more than 200 miles of marked hiking trails through Harriman State Park,
New YorkÂ’s second largest, and many more in adjacent Bear Mountain State Park.
Even so, the crush of visitors can be so great that designated hiker-only parking
lots fill up quickly. Arrive early or face difficult access to trailheads.
Trail historians will want to hike awhile on the Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain -
the very first section of more than 2000 miles of AmericaÂ’s most famous trail was
built here. The canine hike to Hessian Lake on the AT is rich in Revolutionary War
lore.
The Timp Hike is a popular introduction to the Hudson Highlands, starting directly
on Route 9W that runs along the Hudson River opposite of Jones Point, just south of
Bear Mountain. The trailhead is an unpromising break in the weeds just south of the
parking lot but things pick up once your dog negotiates the awkward, rocky
steps in the early stages of the journey.
The hike splits into the Ramapo-Dunderberg Trail (red blazes) and Timp-Torne Trail
(blue blazes). From here, heading up the red trail, you break out to views of the
Hudson River and roll up and down mountains through boulder foundations until
the Timp, a peak overlooking the interior of the Highlands. Climb back down the
Timp and return on the blue trail to complete a rewarding 9-mile loop.
In general, the hiking in the west region of the park is more paw-friendly. Dirt trails
move through forests with little understory and long sightlines. The trails criss-
cross often and there is plenty of up-and-down hiking. It is not unusual to have
tagged four or five small peaks in a two-hour trip. Make sure to find a trail map
before heading out.
Harriman State Park is located at the intersection of the Palisades Parkway and
Route 9W.

Your bouquet
To preserve your bouquet you will need to start drying the flowers right away. What you will need to do is hang the bouquet in a dark dry place for at least a week. When you check the bouquet make sure it is nice and dry and free of moisture. If needed dry for a few more days just to make sure. When you are completely sure your bouquet is dried then you can place it a nice curio cabinet or on a wall however you choose.
Your first piece of cake
If you do not have one buy a food sealer, you know one of those neat little small kitchen appliances that sucks all of the air out of the food you are sealing. When you have your food sealer take and suck all of the air out of the plastic bag you are sealing this way when it is air tight it will be good for a long time. This is not it though you want to be safe than sorry. Once you have it sealed you need to take and wrap some aluminum foil and wrap it up then you should be good to go. Just make sure you put your piece of cake in a good working freezer that will keep a constant temperature.

When taking to the cleaners you will need to make sure that the dress is properly cared for such as in applique, beading or embroidery. Make sure you get a really good idea of how they will be treating your dress. Ask of how many dresses they have cleaned and how long it will take.
The best way is to store your dress with acid free tissue paper and acid free box. When I say acid free I mean everything from the window of the box to the interior if not you will get brown spots on your dress. You will need to remove all the padding of the dress including the shoulder pads and bust. You will need to lay the dress completely flat and do not store nothing else with it.
Do not store your dress know where else but a dry area where the temperature remains constant. Storing in a shed or garage will not be a good idea because the temperature will fluctuate. Also check your dress every six months just to make sure it is still in good condition.

Recently bought some dark brown gladiator platform heels and I just don't know what dress to wear with them!?
